Working Holiday Visa

Looking to spend your holiday outside your country? Have you always wanted to travel to other countries to visit but have a full-time job and only get vacation days? Are you conscious about your funds and would like to continue working while you travel?

If you just answered “Yes” to all those questions, then the Canada Holiday Working Visa is the right choice for you.

Time to travel, but you notice that there are still many worries when you decide to take a break from work. When you choose to go on a holiday, there are always so many things to get ready for. The travel fees, accommodation fees, touring, feeding, and many more things may cause a huge dent in your pocket that will prevent you from making that desired trip.

The Canada Working Holiday Visa is the right choice for you.

What is the Canada Working Holiday Visa?

The International Experience Canada (IEC) is the program through which several work permits are given or awarded to young people.

This type of visa is given to young people from only 30 participating countries. It enables them to live, work, and travel in Canada for the duration of their holiday. This visa is awarded by random selection.

This means that you will submit an application for this visa, and only when you are selected will you be able to apply for the work permit.

The best way to learn about the culture and way of life of any country is to serve the people that live there. It gives you an insight into their way of life. This is a way for finance-conscious travel lovers to do what they love to do without worrying about their finances.

When you apply for this visa, draws take place regularly until all the slots are filled, then candidates are randomly selected, after which they are invited to apply.

Since this type of visa is very popular, candidates should apply as early as possible. This will make you more accessible to one or more pools as determined by your participating country.

The IRCC will also give you a five-day notice before your country and category’s final round of invitations. This notice will mark the closure of the pool for that season. The Working Holiday Visa is the perfect choice for those who like to travel, experience new things, and still, have a safe and secure purse string.

Who is eligible to receive the Canadian Working Holiday Visa?

Not everyone is eligible to receive or apply for a Working Holiday Visa. To be eligible, you should meet the requirements for the applicants, which are:

  • The Canada Working Holiday Visa is only available to applicants from the 30 IEC participating countries. You must be a citizen or a passport holder of one of those countries.
  • It would be best if you had a passport for the time you will be staying in Canada. The work permit issued to you will not have a longer duration than your passport.
  • You must be between the ages of 18 to 30 or 35 at your application time. The upper age limit depends on your country of citizenship.
  • It would be best if you had at least an equivalent of CAD 2,500 on landing to help cover all your initial costs.
  • You must be admissible to Canada.
  • You must be able to take out health insurance for the entire duration of your stay in Canada.
  • Dependents must not accompany you.
  • You must have a round-trip ticket before you arrive in Canada or have the financial resources to purchase a ticket at the end of your authorized stay.
  • You must pay the appropriate fees associated with the work permit application.

You can learn the steps on how to become a candidate for application to the Working Holiday Visa.

  1. Complete the come to Canada questionnaire on the Canada.ca immigration page. This questionnaire is used as an initial assessment for the work permit. If you meet the criteria required, a reference code will be sent to you.
  2. Enter the code and create a secure account on the application page.
  3. Create an IEC profile.
  4. After filling the profile, submit your application and choose out the IEC pools you want to be included in. You may be eligible for one or more pools.
  5. At this step, you will wait until you get an Invitation to Apply (ITA). Once selected, you will have 10 days to start your application for the working holiday visa or decline the invitation.

Once you start the application, you will:

  1. Have 20 days to submit your work permit application and pay any relevant fees.
  2. If you choose between the Young Professional category or the International Co-Op category, your employer will have to pay an amount of CAD 230 employer compliance fee before the 20 days is up. Your employer will also need to send you an Offer of Employment letter so that you can include this in the application.
  3. You also need to gather and upload all the required documents. If you don’t have some of the documents required, you can upload proof of application for the documents.
  4. After, this payment is required.
